The Rain Will Wash Away the Blood

Mission Briefing

Set in the late 1990s. Peter Holland, an Upside technical reporter pursuing an interview gone awry; John Nord, a Conference Center manager running an international video conference; and Mike Murphy, an FBI agent, working a case; are drawn into an international conspiracy that, if not foiled, will change the political course of the next millennium.

The story begins on a mountain road during a one-hundred-year storm.  John Nord is racing his car dangerously through a redwood forest in pursuit.  The book flashes back four days, is set in Northern California, and takes the reader on a fast-paced ride. The book unveils the scenic golden state and everyday life of the high technology workers in this modern birthplace of the silicon chip.  Sergei Markov, ex KGB military intelligence agent, with the Soviet Union’s demise, is freelancing doing deals with the Russian Mafia and rising kleptocrats.  General Chen, China’s technology leader, with long ties in conflicts with the United States, uses political influence purchased during the last election to gain access to technology using Happy Camper, sister of George Camper, a cybersecurity leader; to put together a venture deal in China.

During a M&A video conference, an accidental mix-up of computer discs brings John Nord, Peter Holland, and the Campers into peril.
